Boston Arts Academy (BAA)

So I graduated from BAA as a music major in 2008 and ever since I left I have always missed it. I mostly miss the people that I was surrounded by. It was such a big transition coming from an Art high school and into a major Technical school. Meeting new people wasn't a problem and Wentworth's location was nothing new to me. The best way I can describe it is; I just walked from the right side of the brain to the left side. And that is also how I would describe this Art & Technology class. Every time I walk into this class it feels like I am walking into my senior humanities class back at BAA. Well not entirely but as lecture begins and topics and art are brought up I end up getting flashbacks of my high school years. Though I was not a visual arts major and that is what we look at mostly in lecture I  always seem to find some connection back to high school. I guess I just really miss those days and all the crazy shenanigans that went on at BAA.

My favorite artist

Lindsey Stirling has to be my favorite artist out there. She is a violinist as well as a dancer. She became a youtube hit with her Dubstep violin videos. Where she composed Dubstep music and over that plays her violin while dancing. Now I was a little skeptical that she was ballet dancing and playing the violin at the same time but then I watched a live performance video and verified that she is indeed dancing and playing the violin. I am a big fan of taking classical music and fusing it with modern rock or synthesis music. Its a little of the past mix with the present/future. And essentially all modern music was derived from classical but people do not realize this. Every time I watch Lindsey's music video or listen to her songs I just feel inspired to do something. Her music relaxes me but at the same time motivates me; that is why when I do homework I usually put on one of her albums. If I ever had the money or time I would pick up the violin (again).

I also want to say something about her camera guy Devin Gram (i think is his name). He does an amazing job! The angles and the way he shoots is like you are moving with what ever he is filming. The camera is rarely ever still.Oh and his editing job is very clean cut; which is the most difficult thing to do when making videos. Devin's editing skills is what makes his video so amazing and with Lindsey's music they are just mesmerizing (at least for me they are).

These are my two top favorite songs:

Why no blog posts???

So I have not been keeping up with my blog at all. Why? Well its not some thing I normally do therefore I forgot about it a few times. Then when I do sit down and try to write something it always turned out to be some thing I did not like and so I scraped it and in the end nothing got posted. Plus all the other classes that I am taking kept me busy. I'm not making excuses I'm just informing that with in the next week or so there will be much more blog posts on my page.

Beauty

Beauty is a difficult one. Again I believe this to be opinion based as well. What is beautiful to one may not be for the next. I also believe society to have an influence on what is to be considered beautiful. Society shuns that which is not appealing to the eyes of the public. Beauty should be seen on not just a physical level but a spiritual and emotional level. You are the only one that can determine what is beautiful in your eyes. Say you are wearing the most hideous outfit ever but, you find it the most appealing and beautiful thing ever. That is your opinion and feelings; and no one should change your mind about that. The way I know something is beautiful to me is I get mesmerizer by whatever has caught my attention (physically or on a deeper emotional level) and I cannot break from its spell. I also get this indescribable feeling; some form of love or admiration for the object that has me spellbound. If this happens then I know it is beautiful to me.

Perfection

What is perfection? I believe there is no such thing as a universal perfection where everyone agrees on something being perfect. Perfection is opinion based. Say once a person feels something is perfect that is there perfection. Where as someone else will take that same thing and alternate it so that it matches their own perfection. In my opinion perfection is a feeling of completion, satisfaction and accomplishment for an individual.
